I am gathering components for a small, mobile computer and am having trouble
locating a 12 inch monitor to team with a mini keyboard in a yet-to-be built
folding case (laptop-ish). Would it be possible to use a laptop screen for
this? The one I'm looking at is for a toshiba 7000 series. Are the
electronics/connections compatible with a desk-top pc, would it take major adapting and
are there other considerations such as resolution limitations in such a small
screen?

Possibly will try Vista instead of xp this time but haven't decided (I'm
just getting comfortable with xp!)

Yes, purchasing a laptop would be simpler but I already have several
components for a micro atx system
which are more easily up-graded. I also have an itch to release some
creative energy on this build!

Any tips appreciated
