Could be a bad chip. I had that happen last night when I upgraded the
ram on an Acer which had dual RAM banks. I removed the older 72-pin RAM,
put in the new 64 MB DIMM module and changed the jumper (which was fun
searching for without a manual). Beep, beep, beep, ad infinitum. So
finally I pulled two 32MB from a clone I built for my daughter and put
it in the Acer. Worked fine. Put the new 64 MB in my daughter's computer
and beep, beep, beep. Hope I can get it exchanged or refunded. This was
the "bargain" chip I bought last week for $48 from
http://www.pc-progress.com. But then these things happen when doing
upgrading. It helps to be patient and learn how to troubleshoot.

You might also check your jumper and try another setting. Even manuals
can be wrong.
