Larry-

If you formatted your drives then they must already have a partition on
them. The most common configuration is to have a single large partition
on a hard drive (at least with Windows PCs). So, you do not need any
further partitions unless you want them.

You can look at your partitioning scheme through the disk administrator
utility in Windows XP. If you need to re-format or change partitions on
the empty drive you should be able to do it from there.

If you wanted to re-partition your primary drive without losing data,
you would need to use an application like partition magic (
http://www.powerquest.com/partitionmagic/ ), which I have found to be
very reliable and quite handy.

Subject: [PCBUILD] disk partitioning

I recently added a new hard drive to my computer. Both hard drives were
formatted but I failed to partition them. Is it necessary to partition
them and why? Can I partition them now without losing any data or
applications? One drive is empty. I am using WindowsXP Professional.
Thank You. Larry.
