Subject: [PCBUILD] Shuttle HOT-569 mobo & PC-100 RAM

Can anyone tell me what I need to do to get an older Shuttle HOT-569 mobo
to accept PC-100 RAM? Currently, I have 3 sticks of 32 meg each of PC-66 in
there. I have a stick of 64 meg PC-100 that I would like to put in there.
But, every time it boots, it gets a different memory size reading and then
usually locks up immediately after post.

I know that slot 3 cannot be used when using a 64 meg stick with 16 chips
on it. But I think a BIOS setting needs to be changed to get the PC-100 to
work.

Also, if anyone knows of a place that buys or trades RAM, email me.

Thanks!

David Ray

ps - the PC-100 RAM is probably 70ns, yes?

If I'm not mistaken, you should use ram sticks in pairs. That might explain the strange memory size
readings. Try removing one stick, and see if that helps. Whether you can run the two, pc 66 in
tandem with two pc 100 sticks, I don't know. Hope this is correct, but it won't hurt anything to
remove one stick. hth
