Subject: [PCBUILD] First Build--Ubuntu?

I've been running Ubuntu on an old laptop that's just about had it. I've
been happy with the OS and would like to build a PC with Ubuntu-compatible
hardware. This computer would be used for internet access, word processing,
some gaming, etc. Are there any pieces of hardware I won't be able to use
or should avoid because of the OS? Is there a preference for AMD or Intel?
