Hello Gang,

I have a system with:
AMD 350
FIC VA 503+ mb
128mb ram
diamond speedstar a50 agp
soundblaster AWE64 value

Win98.

No matter what, the system will only play partial sounds i.e. when you
start the computer and the wonderful windows music hits you after it has
booted will only play the first second or two of it then cuts off. Or,
during games, like Deer Hunter, during the first part, there is a voice
that says "Alright let's ?see what.." forgot exactly what it says, but
anyway, the problem is that it only plays part of these sounds, only the
first second or so then cuts off. Like in Deer Hunter, it cuts off what
the human voice says after only one or two words, and there are no
background sounds.

cd's play fine. It's just all other sounds, they get cut off a second or
so after they start. I checked in device manager, no conflicts. ran by
Soundblaster's (Creative Labs) site but didn't find much help there.

so, the system tries to play all sounds but only plays the first couple
of seconds of them then cuts off.

Tried re-installing the software and programs that came with the sound
card but didn't help. What next?

Sorry if this is too vague but don't know what else to mention. I have
never come across a system doing this. It's all new.

Thanks for any and all suggestions.

Sincerely,
David A. Abbe
