The reason that Mad Cow is publicized the way it is is to promote more
profitable foods ( hint, you should worry more about lightning).  Religion
 the techniques of which form the core of modern advertising practices ) is
a more ancient way to market a lifestyle and to promote the production of
certain crops often to the demise of domestic and wild animal species.
Those who think domestic animals live cruel and short lives have no idea of
how wild animals live and gladly pay much higher mark-ups for their food.

Kellogg began the modern marketing of foods in the 1880s.  Several of his
books are available in whole text on the Net.  I think you would find much
to agree with in these.  An accurate portrail of his work can also be seen
in the novel and film "The Road to Wellville".

Today the Kellogg Foundation has over 12 billion dollars and uses this this
money to promote a lifestyle that perpetuates itself throught it's
investments.

None of this has anything to do with eating a healthy diet.  It has to do
with marketing.  Ask yourself - what is the product?  That a paleo diet
consists of low-margin foods has greatly reduced my ability to market
"NeanderThin".   No shakes, no snack bars, no supplements, no endorsements
from "Health Food" magazines - what's a budding diet guru to do?
