I posted this in July about the death rate of vegetarians vs.
non-vegetarians:

Here is another interesting tidbit from the book The Steak Lover's Diet
by Dr. Melvin Anchell:

P.4"There has been an unchallenged mantra that vegetarians live longer
than meat eaters (meaning,  basically, omnivores, as it is rare to find
someone who eats nothing but meat).  This widely held belief is patently

false, as the statistics prove just the opposite.  The annual all-cause
death rate of vegetarian men is slightly higher than that of
non-vegetarian men ( .93 percent vs .89 percent).  The statistics
between vegetarian women and non-vegetarian (omnivorous) women
concerning lifespan is truly startling and concerning, especially when
it is realized that there are a lot more vegetarian women than
vegetarian men.  The annual death rate of vegetarian women is .86
percent; the annual death rate of non-vegetarian women is .54 percent.
This was reported in the American Journal of Epidemiology in 1973
(97:372),......."
