I'm confused about where probiotics fit in with paleo eating. The probiotics
that are native to the human gut are usually cultured in milk, which is not
paleo. The other way to get cultures of these bacteria is by pickling, but
that requires salt, which also is not paleo. You could take SBOs, but they
are not native to the human gut and therefore will not permanently populate
it. They die out 3 days after you stop taking them.

So what's the answer? How did paleolithic people get good bugs into their
gut? What is the food source?
