Batsheva,

I concur with Ron on all important points. On the incoming emails referred to, I scan them quickly as <rant><rant><rant><fact-to-be-checked><rant>...

:-)

With regard to the recent post, I thought the target was William. :-) We know how little effect that will have, thank goodness!

It is a pleasure to have you on the list. Try to sort the wheat from the chaff and know that others are with you.

Regards,

Wayne

Hi Batsheva,

I don't respond to Geoff's posts. My email program doesn't filter his

messages out because they all come from the Paleofood listserv so I just

delete his posts without reading them. Geoff is the only person I can ever

recall ignoring like this. I can usually find some value in what most people

say. At least I try to offer the respectful perception that I may have

misunderstood what they said. Nonetheless, his comments sometimes appear in

threads such as this one, where they are quoted and responded to.

My take on his smugness and arrogance is that they reflect two important

traits: 1. an enduring sense of inferiority that must be hidden, and 2. an

uncertainty that is masked with aggressive and rude comments.

I once tried to debate an issue with Geoff and he became very aggressive and

insulting. I did misinterpret his use of "Noble Savage" but the only early

human invention he respected was Sumerian Cuneiform and the writing systems

that followed. He had no respect for totems, rock stacks, or even Mayan

writing and Mathematics, despite the fact that Mayan computations were far

ahead of the Europeans in conceptualizing a value for zero. My point is

that it is impossible to share information with anyone who already knows it

all. If/when he ever becomes sufficiently informed that he can exercise

diplomacy and openness to others, I will happily begin to read his posts

again. Until then I choose to delete his posts and I only see a few

artifacts of his posts in other threads such as this one, and I find the

experience very comfortable.

Best Wishes,

Ron

oops, my reply got cut off.. must have  been so pissed I pushed the send

button prematurely....

In closing, I think you  owe this list an apology for being smug and

arrogant.  People think their diets/lifestyle confer automatic umbrellas of

protection, and there is an inherent air of superiority that comes along

with that type of thinking.  Just live long enough, and you might find

yourself having to  eat gluten free humble pie  one day...
