This article was good until the summary:

"Contrary to what many popular articles report, our data shows that cattle finished on pasture can have their rations supplemented with grain concentrate mixtures up to 1% of body weight for 60 days prior to harvest without depressing CLA levels in the finished beef. The data presented indicate that feeding heavy soy oil, soyhulls or whole soybeans will either help maintain high CLA levels in beef finished on pasture or may, as in the case of heavy soy oil, enhance CLA levels. Feeding grain concentrate supplements on pasture allow for much needed flexibility in pasture finishing systems. Supplementation will produce more rapid fattening than pasture alone especially in times of low pasture growth and production, which will in turn give producers the ability to smooth out the flow of beef to the market place."
