Years ago, I had a black labrador retriever that we
took fishing with us.  After a few trips, we had to
start leaving him home because he wanted to retrieve
the bobbers or lures as we casted, or get the fish as
we reeled them in.  One day, he jumped off a pier and
came back with a northern pike.  Perhaps early man
used dogs to fish as well as hunt?  ;-p
