Lyle Mcdonald also writes that muscle uptake of nutrients is
greatest just after exercise.  Most people associate this with
increased insulin sensitivity allowing a re - carb - up
, but remember that insulin also promotes protein and fat uptake.

Short intense workouts are also reported to increase testosterone
and growth hormone (according to DiPasquale and Mcdonald)

So eating a ton of protein right after a workout may give you a slight
anabolic edge.
