> I am expecting a son in less than 1 week!
Lucky you
> we plan to breast feed for as long as possible (of course)
I'm giving you a link to a Swedish page made by women who've been advising
on breastfeeding for 30 years now.

> When should real food be introduced?
Enjoy now! The present! Eat good food yourselves - the baby only needs you
to care for it and the breast is perfect right now and for the coming 6
months.
Babies from the studies of more than 200 tribes of fisher/hunter/gatherers
and others studies show that babies drink a little from the breast as often
as 2 - 3 times an hour. After the delivery keep the baby with you for at
least an hour before you wash it off a bit and let the baby try the breast
more or less immedeatly after the delivery. Keeping the baby in bed with you
encourages breast feeding and prevents SIDS.
Don't let the staff at the hospital give the baby anything to drink or eat
from a bottle. Sometimes they have sugarsolutions and things. Nature has
what the baby needs. You are sufficient!
