Hi group,

Thanks for all the information you guys post, it's very useful to me. Does anybody have
any information on the effects of a high protein diet and life expectancy?

A friend of mine sent me these quotes:

"...low-calorie diets can extend life spans in
animals. In fact, calorie restriction is the only
known method of slowing aging in mammals."
     -- Reuters Health, 1999

"One of the most important things we've found out
about protein is its impact on life expectancy. When
you feed animals more protein, they don't live as
long. If you reduce their calories and protein, they
live longer. " -- Dr. Dean Edell

I'm fairy well acquainted with the calorie restriction diets, which I can't follow, but I
am not familiar with the effects of protein on aging.

    Thanks,

    Katrina.
