In my experience, yes, the volume is very different.  When I eat
mostly meat, I don't poop nearly as often as I do when I eat foods
that contain carbohydrates.  In a high protein diet, I think more of
the food is actually metabolized.  Other foods have components that
we cannot digest, so more comes out the other end. When eating
mostly meat, once a day is most common to me.  And no, I'm not
constipated then, I just don't have as much material that needs to
be eliminated.
