This could explain why people always report initial weight loss with weight
loss
diets, no matter how ridiculous the particular diet plan !

My husband and I have been talking about this for a while. His personal
trainer claims to have seen this over and over again: any time someone
changes their diet in some substantial (i.e., non-trivial) way, they lose a
bit of weight. I've started to ask people about this, too, and I see that
it seems to be the case more frequently than you'd expect. I don't have a
good explanation for this.
