Kind of makes me glad I had sushi for lunch...

Actually, I was doing some reading on the thyroid last night, and how it
supposedly evolved from a simliar structure in aquatic creatures that served
to concentrate iodine. (Thyroid hormone is found in very short supply when
creatures metamorphosize into adult form. Which, I think, means it's quite
active in the tissues then? - Something definitely happens.)

This is still in the realm of speculation, mind you, but it's interesting to
me that blood type Os, supposedly the oldest, often have thyroid issues.
Aquatic apes, on the other hand, would have had plenty of access to
iodine-containing things that could have boosted their thyroid. D'Adamo, the
blood type theory doc guy, also has claimed Os do a lot better on fish oils
than other kinds, I believe.
