I do not eat dairy (nothing -- no butter, cream, cheese -- nada) or grains at all and am freaking out about what will happen in terms of diet during my hospital stay. My husband said he will bring in hard boiled eggs but other than that, I am at a loss. I have not had a speck of dairy for easily over a year -- so I am worried about bringing whey powder (unsweetened). When I did dairy, it always gave me gas -- but on the other hand -- I want amino acids to begin healing asap with no sugar. I am so scared about all of this -- came about very suddenly -- and know that sugar in someone who has not eaten it at all for ages will depress my immune system or cause weird sky high blood glucose etc. My surgeon agreed that hospital food is awful and said my husband is free to bring whatever I want. Problem is -- rare fatty lamb --- my usual food -- and soft cooked eggs -- don't travel well. I cannot risk bacteria/diarrhea if I can avoid it with this surgery. I begged to not have to stay in the hospital but the surgery is to extensive and 48 hours is required. I have dropped to underweight from the stress of all of this and I'm so afraid they will force glucose or who knows what in my IV.

In which country with this take place?

Eggs will give you all of the amino acids that your body can not make on its' own so that sounds like a good short term (hospital stay) solution for protein for healing. Some hospitals have small refrigerators that can be put in your room for special needs. There might be a rental fee for this, or you could rent/buy your own (under $150 at Best Buy).
