As a dietitian responding to the Eades interview on "The O'Reilly Factor
stated:

"Most, if not all, physicians are not qualified to offer nutritional
counseling as very few medical schools incorporate this discipline into
their curriculum. I know this because I am a registered dietitian with an
advanced medical & clinical nutirition background and am married to a
surgeon."

Did you know that government policy is that US physicians know all about
GOVERNMENT, and not scientific, nutrition research?

NATIONAL NUTRITION MONITORING AND RELATED RESEARCH ACT OF 1990

PUBLIC LAW 101-445

OCTOBER 22, 1990

SEC. 302.(13) NUTRITION TRAINING REPORT.

The Secretary of Health and Human Services, in consultation with the
Secretaries of Agriculture, Education, and Defense, and
the Director of the National Science Foundation, shall submit, within one
year after the date of enactment of this Act, a report
describing the appropriate Federal role in assuring that students enrolled
in United States medical schools and physicians
practicing in the United States have access to adequate training in the
field of nutrition and its relationship to human health.

This explains a lot, doesn't it? What is the government telling physicians
to tell you and me?

SEC. 105.(8) SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT IN SUPPORT OF THE
COORDINATED PROGRAM AND COMPREHENSIVE PLAN.

The Secretaries shall coordinate the conduct of, and may contract with the
National Science Foundation, the National Aeronautics and Space
Administration, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the
National Institute of Standards and Technology, and other suitable Federal
agencies for, such scientific research and development as may be necessary
or appropriate in support of the coordinated program and the comprehensive
plan and in furtherance of the purposes and objectives of this Act.

What is the furtherance of the purposes and objectives of this act?
Promotion of the food pyramid?

SEC. 301.(12) ESTABLISHMENT OF DIETARY GUIDELINES.

(a) REPORT.--(1) IN GENERAL.--At least every five years the Secretaries
shall publish a report entitled "Dietary Guidelines
for Americans". Each such report shall contain nutritional and dietary
information and guidelines for the general public, and shall
be promoted by each Federal agency in carrying out any Federal food,
nutrition, or health program.

Translation: all government agencies shall promote the USDA food pyramid,
aka US Dietary Guidelines, which are updated every five years.

Public Law 101-445 is the very law sugar producers quoted in their campaign
to keep Uncle Sam from promoting a diet with limited sugar intake. In 2000,
US Ag. Sec. Dan Glickmans was going to change the wording and promote
LIMITED sugar intake. Sugar producers got wind of it and went on a major
campaign. The straw that broke the camel's back? A letter signed by 30 US
Senators (most of whom represented sugar producing states) who cited PL
101-445. This kept things right were they were and belonged, according to
sugar producers; "keep eating sugar."

See the picture here? It's the economy, stupid, and science be damned. The
more research I conduct on this, the madder I get.
