When hiking in Greece for 3 months, we just used a mixture of baking soda
and salt for teeth brushing. Kept our breath fresh, abrasive enough to
rub off the plaque, and even whitened our teeth a bit. As for deodorant,
we just used prepackaged towelettes with witch hazel. I'm sure regular
witch hazel would work as well. Keeps you fresh, but does nothing for
odors.
