Mary,
At the suggestion of someone on the list, I made turkey pemmican-one batch
with thyme and one batch with crumbled freeze dried (or chopped dried)
cherries using coconut butter.  We had the same reaction to it at first-the
initial taste and smell were of raw meat and startled us, but we found the
pemmican very satisfying once we got used to it.  They were both delicious,
but the cherry was best.
