This is how I got started thinking about changing my
WOE.  I read Billinghurst and his theories on dog
health (or lack of it).  It made sense to me, the
things he said.  Since manufactured dog food was
relatively new to Australia (not like the US), vets
there were seeing diseases they had not seen before.
Diabetes and dental disease are the two he seems to
mention the most.  Before I switched my dogs, they had
horrible breath and tartar on their teeth, now the
tartar is gone and their breath smells great!
It does make a good read for those who are interested.
