Clearly from what has been posted here, the sound of words has an
emotional reference, and the reference of "pale" is not the same as that
of "pal".
What does the above had to do with the fact that pronunciations (not just of
the word paleo) do and will vary? You don't have to like the fact that
pronunciations vary. Your opinion doesn't change the fact that differences exist and
when differences become great enough, change occurs. Argue all you like if it
makes you happy. Language will still evolve.
