So you're eating a lot of beans and experiencing gas. Didn't Woody
Guthrie write a song about this? Something about beans being the musical
fruit?

Soy is an amazingly profitable plant. A friend of mine helped a chemist
to discover soy lethicin (a thickening and smoothing agent) in order to
find a use for a really huge pile of soy husks at a processing plant.
This same pile is still producing this substance more than 40 years
later! Now natural pesticides found in soy beans (phyto-estrogens) are
being touted as a cure-all for female problems in spite of many concerns
expressed about artificial estrogens and their effects (lowered sperm
counts and sexual abnormalities in children) in recent years. I guess
money and marketing can overcome any rational obstacle.
