These objects, known as ooparts are on rare occasions validated as
authentic(such as the Piri Reis map). The trouble is that the conclusions
drawn from them are invariably dubious and illogical - in the case of the
Piri Reis map, a vague outline of a Southern Continent was drawn on the map
which some people in modern times have claimed was Antarctica - they
conveniently forgot that it was customary for ancient explorers to draw a
huge southern continent on ancient maps, because of a vague hope/belief
that there was a gigantic continent covering most of the southern hemisphere
- of course as exploration of the world continued, these artificial
"reconstructions" of the continent greatly diminished in size, in tandem.

(Incidentally, according to the Wikipedia page on ooparts, only one oopart
has ever been proved to be authentic. It was a coin made by Vikings which
was found in a Native-American settlement. So it proves that either Vikings
settled the Americas well before Columbus, or that Indians traded with the
Vikings by sea, and that the coin travelled, via trade-links to that
settlement).

Aside from that, almost every page supporting the oopart-theory re a more
ancient origin of Mankind, tends to part of web-archives which also focus on
Von-Daeniken-esque theories re UFOs etc. - which is not exactly promising.
