Thanks for sharing. As I recall Todd Moody said his father used to eat peanuts raw, and the reports I shared from Africa said that some people eat bambara groundnuts (also a legume, believed to be the ancestor of the peanut) raw. I doubt I would digest them well, but some folks apparently do, and even Australopithecines are believed to have eaten them. So they have apparently been eaten raw by humans and the ancestors of humans for millions of years, which means millions of years longer than we've been eating almonds or walnuts. As a matter of fact, wild almonds are far more toxic than wild groundnuts to the degree that wild almonds are reportedly inedible.

Groundnuts are not necessarily healthy, but they are apparently Paleo by the NeanderThin definition of being edible raw, with nothing but a sharp stick.
