Adrienne, I FEEL you on the mother in law thing.. I
have the same problems with mine! I used to have a
dog (had to put her to sleep several months ago) that
I fed a raw meat diet, and it improved her health in
her final years greatly.

When I would go visit the in-laws I would bring my
dogs food with me. Despite that she kept giving my
dog treats like taquitos! I blew up at her several
times over this.

When I was pregnant with my son, I had a huge fight
with her and I told her that my son was going to eat
Paleo and that was the end of it. I told her if she
ever tried to sneak him cookies or other crap behind
my back she'd never see him again.

She knows the only things he can eat is meat, veggies
(except potatoes) and fruits and fruit juices. I'm
not trying to go low carb with him as he is a thin
baby, but I want him to have the taste for real foods.
When he is older and starts rebelling, those food
tastes will be foreign to him.

Problem is that my son is WAY behind in his chewing
development. He's 14 months and still eats the fully
processed foods, and chokes on food with texture.

So feeling like a failure, I broke down and got him
"teething" puffs made of wheat. Then the other day my
hubby was trying to get my son to eat bread, and I
blew up at him. Then my nanny dropped a little bit of
the cookie she was eating on the floor, and let my son
eat that (I scolded her for this).

So I already feel like I'm fighting the whole world on
this and he is only 14 months! So then this weekend
my MIL gave him a piece of flat bread right in front
of me, and my son was actually chewing it so I kind of
let it go.

Then my MIL decided to make my son baby food, cooking
beef and carrots together. She then told me she put a
little piece of potato in it. It's all crap, but to
me potatoes are way worse than wheat. I flipped out
at her.. she knows I would not want potato in there.

She tried to pretend she didn't know, but my MIL is
full of shit. Anybody else fighting with their family
about following Paleo?

Luv,
