This is a great approach. Franco Columbu, twice Mr. Olympia regulated his
carb intake depending on how close he was to a contest. In the last few
weeks, he would eliminate fruit except for right before a workout. Obviously
one will eat differently when one has a lot of fat to lose compared to
Philip, who has already achieved a great physique.

The way I view it, HGs were more mobile (exercising) in the warm months,
doing a lot of gathering. In the colder months, they were more sedentary
since there was much less to gather. Due to modern grocery stores there are
a lot of paleo-style carbs available year-round, but that is not necessarily
paleo.
