I don't know about oxen, but half a bison fills a small chest freezer (3'  
wide,30" tall, and 20" deep) as well as the freezer on our refrigerator.   
(Both can be empty at the start, and full afterward.)  And when I say  
full, I mean just barely able to close the lid full.
