I've also seen some raw nuts listed in thyroid info. I have a printout
from a webpage I can no longer find. The reference is sketchy, at
best. Part of it quotes as such:

Goitrogens "block the utilization of iodine." Goitrogenic foods include
"turnips, cabbage, brussel sprouts, broccoli, kale, kohlrabi, turnips,
radish, rutabaga, mustard, cassava root, soybean, peanuts, lentils, pine
nuts, millet and oil seed meals from rape and turnip. Effects of
thyroid inhibition are not counteracted by addition of dietary iodine.
Cooking usually deactivates goitrogens in most cases, but not all.
Other foods that have the potential for antithyroid activity include:
onion, chard, spinach, lettuce, celery, green pepper, beets carrots,
radishes, soybean, peas lentils, beans, peanuts, filberts, walnuts,
pears, peaches, apricots, strawberries, raisins, milk, clams, oysters,
liver. (Coon 1975) It has not been proven that a diet of these foods
would be goitrogenic unless, they comprised a high amount of the diet,
and eaten raw."

I found this website, but did not search it to see if it still contained
this info. The original page address just gives me an error message.
(Forgive me for any typos--I just transcribed this quickly from my paper
copy here.)
