The idea of a distributed brain is intriguing but should be easy to
demonstrate. A person who loses part of their digestive system through
accident or disease would exhibit some loss of mental facility. To my knowledge
this has never been seen, whereas loss of mental facility through injury to
the brain is very strongly correlated.
