Hi There,

I noticed the interesting discussion regarding eating zero carb. Once again
I am considering a zero carb lifestyle to eliminate yeast. Somehow - and I
can only guess how - I seem to have gotten some wicked yeast overgrowth. I
have two strains (Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Kloecker species) confirmed
by a stool test. About 2 or 3 months ago I suddenly noticed a toe nail
fungus on one of my toe nails, and I have white spots on my lower legs that
supposedly is a fungus. In addition, I am bloated daily no matter what I eat
and once I do eat it gets worse. Last year when the bloating started I also
started gaining weight. After gaining 14 lbs in 3 months I had to reduce my
caloric intake. I have been fasting for 14 days and so far have had one day
without bloating. However, even drinking some clear veggie broth makes the
bloating come back. I have lost weight but still have more fat than I used
to. Last year at this weight my thighs were leaner and more toned than they
are now. So I have lost muscle and gained fat through all of this and I do
not like it.

Last week I got a colonic and then another one yesterday (I know - NOT
paleo). I apologize ahead of time for being graphic but both times I noticed
a lot of white, flaky stuff coming out and I mean A LOT. Yesterday the woman
who runs the place came in to adjust the water temperature and looking at
what was being flushed out she said, "you have a lot of yeast". I asked her
if that's what the white stuff is and she said it was.

My question, and I do have one, is how eating zero carb affects candida and
other fungi. I know one school of thought is if the fungi are deprived of
food they will die off. However, another school of thought is that if
deprived of food, the fungi will "dig" deeper into the body looking for food
and actually lodge themselves in organs and other tissues causing more harm
than before.

Would love some thoughts on this from this wonderful group.

TIA,

Kristina
