When I stopped eating grains I lost 3 pounds per week until I hit my
goal weight (from 170 lb to 130 lb in 3 months). All my friends thought
I had some terrible illness!!

They were half-right... it turns out I had a major gluten intolerance
and even low-gluten grains like oats and rye would trigger major weight
gain.

It could be that you are eating something which your body reacts badly
to. Prime suspects would be oats, dairy, citrus fruits, shellfish and
coffee.

The Texas Low Carb Elimination Diet is a great method of tracking down
food intolerances. Although you have to be in a pretty bad stall to
resort to something so extreme.

Here's an old post of mine with a link to the "diet".
