I'm not sure about that statistic.  But also, H-G's can live on land that
is unsuitable for agriculture, so there's a lot more acreage available.

But there's another solution, which for some reason no one talks
about.  Who says we need 3 billion people?  ALL of our environmental
problems would be much easier to solve if there weren't so many of us.  --
and hey, I am NOT advocating mass killing or starvation!  All that's
necessary is a slight reduction in the average children-per-family. Well,
okay:  in some countries, it might be a fairly large reduction.
Any of you who've read the "Ishmael" books are familiar with some other
ideas related to this.  It may turn out to be the ultimate solution, in the
sense that if we don't do that, nothing else will really help.
