Thanks for mentioning Mackarness. I looked him up again and I knew he
advocated a low-carb, high-meat diet, but didn't realize that he mentioned
"Stone Age diet" in his book way back in 1958 until I read this:
http://www.lowcarb.ca/atkins-diet-and-low-carb-plans/stone-age-diet-mackarne
ss.html. However, Mackarness, like Atkins, allowed unlimited dairy

Read Mackarness' book, Living Safely in a Polluted World. Page 184 details
his Stone Age Diet which lists all dairy as a forbidden food. Mackarness
prescribed it for those with suspected food allergies/sensitivies -- as well as for
general health. I don't know why eggs are forbidden too other than the fact
that they are a common allergen. Mackarness is not advocating a low-carb diet
per se nor unlimited dairy products. If you can find his books -- you will see
that he is mostly concerned with individualizing a diet to suit individual
needs.
