Dori,  I think that you should appreciate that there is a very huge
difference between gentic engineering and selctive breeding within the
continuum of "fiddled with."  Both are relevant to the paleo inquiry
but
selecting for fenitic tendencies in a plant versus splicing in
something
like say a bacterium gene is huge fundamental difference.  As one of
the
ouder voices on the list, you should avoid "fuzziness."  rick
