Gluten is indeed an ingredient in beer. Most beer is made from barley.
Gluten grains are wheat, rye, barley and possibly oats (through
cross-contamination). A few companies now make gluten-free beer.

To follow up the other discussion, there is a skin condition called
Dermatitis Herpetaformis (DH) that is basically Celiac Disease (CD)
presenting as a skin condition. People with DH always have CD, but
people with CD do not necessarily have DH. DH is diagnosed through a
skin biopsy, but intestinal damage is almost always found(even if
people have no intestinal symptoms), so a biopsy & endoscopy is often
done.

I am a firm believer that our bodies react in many ways to what we eat.
I had never felt better than when I went on a gluten free diet...UNTIL
I went on a paleo diet. Wow. I feel amazing as long as I stay 100%
paleo AND gluten-free. It's tough to maintain this food lifestyle here
in the USA, though!

best wishes,
kathleen
