>I think that dairy products contribute to osteoporosis this way, also.

This is in layman's terms, but the source is Loren Cordain. The
interview
transcript is tucked away somewhere in my Word files but I'm feeling
lazy.

Many dairy foods produce a high acid balance in the body. The first
order
of business is to even things out. The first line of defense is
magnesium,
then calcium. Consistent high acid balance drains calcium.

He gave an example. By the way, the only way to get rid of the acid
is
through urine. A 2-litre Coke produces x amount of acid. To get rid
of it
would take *50 gallons* of urine. This gives you an idea of why
osteoporosis is the problem it is.

The funny part is that two of the top three acid-producing foods (I
forget
the third) are hard cheeses and bread. So when the Carol Brady's of
this
world give Marcia, Jan and Cindy grilled cheddar samwhiches in an
effort to
build thier bones, they're doing just the opposite. Amazing!
