My 5 year old can open macadamia nuts, sweatless. You need a piece of log with a
concave depression gouged out to the size of half a macadamia nut. You place the nut
in the depression, and whack it with a piece of springy wood, such as a trimmed tree
branch. The natural 'give' in the log and in the branch causes the nut to accept the
force and crack open easily in situ. Hit it with a hammer on a hard surface and it
will ricochet like a bullet. Sub tropical trees are found naturally amongst a vast
superabundance of natural -and highly effective-nutcrackers. Strength is not an
issue.
