Does anyone on the list have any experience with freeze-drying of foods?  I
don't know if there are any non-industrial procedures, but I'd sure love to
hear of any that you know of ...

My cats and I have become enamoured of freeze-dried liver treats and it seems
to me that something similar would be great for creating lightweight,
non-perishable snacks for backpacking and other trips.  TIA.
