Not in my case. When I eat large amounts of meat and fat, and restrict
carbs, I gain some weight, which is a good thing. When I eat a high-carb,
low-fat diet, I become underweight, no matter how much I eat. As a
vegetarian, I would sometimes eat all four servings of a whole grain cereal
for breakfast, yet would remain underweight.

Also, there were overweight people who gained weight on an Atkins-type diet,
and lost weight on a low-fat diet. There is no hard and fast rule that
dictates what kind of diet will provoke weight loss or gain for a particular
individual.
