I've been eating salt free by choice now for many years, this is what I do when I cook something that needs salt, i.e. soups. I use a number of bay leaves instead of salt, (at times I use up to 6-7 leaves in one pot of soup) you'll have to adjust to taste. People that are not salt free can't tell the difference.

Give it a try, it might work for you also.

My salt consumption has no doubt been cut drastically, so I do sometimes use
a little salt but NEVER before it's done when cooking something. That zaps
salt's flavor, meaning you only add more later. If you cut it out
completely, you'll find it's much like sugar -- any craving can go away.
I've heard it said more than once that less salt cuts the appetite. I've
noticed this, too. You just seem satisfied sooner.

Some things just need salt, though (IMO). I made some soup yesterday that
just seemed to cry for it. But I'd put nothing in at all, even in the
homemade stock, so I felt no guilt over a dash. I'd call this a personal
thing. If you think about it, experiment with it and come to a conclusion
that feels right, go with it.
