It is irrelevant whether the redness and bump are on the upper or lower lid.
 There are about 32 meibomian glands that run vertically through the upper
and lower eyelids.  Each gland opens at the lid margin near the lashes.  The
"stye" can form on either upper or lower lid; the treatment is the same. 
97% of the time, if hot compresses are applied soon after symptoms are
noticed, it will clear up in 12-48 hours with no medical intervention.  
Glad to hear yours is falling in the 97%!
