Many thanks Paula.

This looks like just the kind of book I was looking for. It's now in my
amazon basket ;o)

I can't speak for how expensive or cheap things are in America but here my
weekly food bill easily comes to 220 euros per week (that's US$300 roughly,
using a google tool). It seems to be twice the amount my friends with the
same sized families are spending (we're just a family of four which includes
two small children). Apart from the packaged organic meat, everything else
is fresh but not necessarily organic.

I'd be interested to know how that compares to a 'paleo' family of four in
the US. I consider what we spend on food to already be very expensive and
proportionally takes up a huge amount of our income. That said, it is also
a lifestyle choice and something I deem important for our family and general
well-being. That's why, when upgrading to even better quality food (such as
100% grass-fed meat!) I have to consider how much higher this makes our
weekly shopping bill....there is an upper-limit that I'm not willing to go
beyond, and we're pretty much there already!

Best wishes
Tracey

You may want to read Lierre Keith's book "The Vegetarian Myth". She was a
vegetarian for about 20 years for ethical reasons. Now she is paleo. She
goes into much detail on how monocropping destroys the land and planet,
while ethically raising animals for consumption is doable and better for the
planet.

As a 60 year old woman who has been mainly paleo for 17 years, I do not find
it that much more expensive from the standard American diet - those
processed foods are quite expensive!! Price them out by the pound some
time. But, for someone eating a lot of grains and cheap foods like beans
and rice, it would be more expensive. Of course, a person can save on
things like not taking prescription drugs due to having damaged oneself with
SAD.
