I wouldn't go as far as blending them.  I tend to put mine in a pan  
with a bit of water, steam/boil them for about 15 mins or until a  
knife goes through the pieces.  Then I just use a hand potato masher  
to mash a good chunk of fat into the mixture.

I'm surprised your daughter enjoyed them so much... 4 1/2 months  
seems quite young to be eating vegetables!
