Beets are a main source of sugar. Evfer heard of beet sugar? I would say
no, they are not allowed. Some may differ in opinion though. My
NeanderThin does not list beets in the *OK* vegies, but on the other
hand, it says *or any other vegetable that can be eaten raw. As for me, I
don't eat them although I love them.  =o]
