higher protein, high meat type diet. A certain percentage of the population
gets effects such as these upon limiting carbohydrate consumption and
increasing protein consumption. It takes the body more acid and more energy

She need not abandon a paleo diet. The solution would be to eat more
vegetables and fruits than meats. This is still a paleo diet. A higher
produce consumption would make the body more alkaline. It could be that
some of the side effects some people experience/report on low carb diets are
from protein toxicity. The level of protein intake that leads to toxicity
symptoms may vary from person to person.
