This post reminded me of something. Pumpkin custard.

When I was a kid I loved pies, especially pumpkin. But, I've never like the crusts. It used to drive my mom nuts - she would spend time making these beautiful, flaky crusts for her pies, and I would leave the crusts on the plate after I finished eating the pie filling. I also hated putting whipped cream on the pie, which they thought was strange (especially for a kid).

She decided to avoid this frustration by cooking a separate pan of nothing but filling, just for me. I would not get pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving or Christmas, but I would get a bowl of pumpkin "pudding", which suited me just fine.

Just a story.
