Asking American kids of that age what they ate in the last 24 hours is
not very reliable data.

I constantly observe what people eat at cafeterias and supermarkets.  I
can usually tell what a person looks like from just what is in their tray
or cart.  Just think of the study that could be done at a cafeteria
simply by adding a scale and height chart to the cash register data!  I
think the authors of this study would be very surprised.
